Robotboy Wiki

"The Boy Who Cried Kamikazi" is the 19th episode of the series and the 10th(a) of Season 1 of Robotboy. When Robotboy gets his new freeze ray weapon installed, Gus and Tommy use it to their advantage to skip classes by saying, "Oh no! It's Dr. Kamikazi!" To which Robotboy freezes everything. Eventually Robotboy finds out, learns what lying is and then Kamikazi really attacks, and Robotboy fights him. After that, Tommy apologizes.

Synopsis[]

Moshimo gives Robotboy the power to freeze everything in sight. Tommy and Gus decide to use this new power to their advantage by pretending that Kamikazi is attacking and forcing Robotboy to freeze everyone around him!  However, when Dr. Kamikazi does eventually attack with his newly acquired ‘Clapper Zapper’, Tommy is faced with ‘the boy who cried wolf’ scenario. Robotboy thinks Tommy is lying and doesn’t respond, leaving him to fall into the evil hands of Dr. Kamikazi!

Plot[]

The day begins with the boys playing video games at Tommy’s house. Just then, they get a call from the professor, saying that RobotBoy is having a new freeze patch installed into his system.

Later, Gus wants to use his new power for his own needs, such as making ice cream. However, Tommy intervenes by saying that Ro’s freeze ray is only to be used for emergencies, such as a villain’s attack, which in turn gives Gus an idea. At school, Gus shouts out that Kamikazi is attacking, which alarms RobotBoy and causes him to freeze the entire classroom. However when he sees Kamikazi is nowhere in sight, Robotboy is left confused. Then outside during gym class, the students are all doing sit-ups, going red in the face during so. After Tommy begins to get tired himself, despite his initial objections, he joins in on Gus’ little prank.

Throughout the entire day, the boys keep tricking RobotBoy into using his freeze ray so they can skip classes. Eventually, Ro catches on and confronts Tommy. Not appreciating being lied to by his friend, Robotboy starts getting angry. Just then, Kamikazi and Constantine arrive in a hot air balloon as Tommy and Gus try to warn Robotboy, but the robot refuses to listen, thinking it’s just another trick.

  • Tommy: Well, umm.….
  • (Tommy turns to Gus, who turns away, whistling innocently.)

Trivia[]

  • This was the 8th episode to be produced for the series.
  • The title of this episode references the classic German fairy-tale The Boy Who Cried Wolf.
  • When Tommy and Gus hold the rope from Kamikazi's air-balloon a "Tarzan yell" Sound Effect from the Warner Bros. library is heard.
  • When Tommy and Gus are playing the hockey videogame on the TV, some audio from Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins are heard:
    • When someone scores, you can hear the level start jingle from the original game.
    • From 0:26 to 0:34, you can hear the file selection theme from the original game, although is a bit slowed and distorted.
  • This is the first time that Constantine introduces an invention rather than Dr. Kamikazi, as the latter confuses the device as one of those that allows him to record his favorite shows on the television (either a VCR or DVR).
  • The ending is pretty similar to Dog-Ra's ending, as Robotboy says he won't forgive Tommy before replying 'just kidding'.

Goofs[]
